Hello to all our clients and followers,Well the days are finally starting to stretch and just when you thought it was safe to start thinking about spring, winter has reared its ugly head. The boys are certainly thankful for their new water and wind proof winter coats.
Have you noticed the slightly confused Flowering Cherry’s who thought spring had come early? Let’s hope they save a few flowers for when spring really does arrive. Keep an eye out for them on your travels, they might just brighten your day.
Jobs for February:
• Last minute pruning of your roses and wisteria before they start to shoot again.
• Installing trellis and fencing so your climbers can take hold in spring.
• Clear the last of the leaves from your lawn and garden beds to ensure you keep pests and diseases at bay.
If you need a hand, we are here help.

Hello to all our clients and followers,Today we renewed our B.A.L.I. (British Association of Landscape Industries) membership. Over the years, we have found this to be an excellent accreditation given that potential clients feel more comfortable using a supplier who has been vetted by such a respected trade association.
Even though January is normally a bleak month for gardening, as a result of the warmer than normal weather, bulbs have been pushing up. If the South East can avoid frost and above all the dreaded snow, we could see plentiful early blooms. Our garden maintenance teams have also noticed an abundance of ladybirds – good news for us gardeners but bad news for their natural prey, the aphid. In addition they have seen good numbers of bumble bees and various spiders. So, the bugs like the bulbs are awake early this year, let battle commence!
One of our hard & soft landscaping projects in Gloucestershire has just seen 1,800 plants arrive for planting. Unlike the planting of 1 million trees throughout the UK this year to honour the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, this is just ‘business as usual’ for Cameron Gardens.

Hello to all our clients and readers,After our cold snap last week, the temperature has climbed to a balmy 12C which with the addition of some well needed rain can only be good for the garden. This month, whilst we continue to do our wisteria and fruit tree pruning, it is also a very good time to re-condition the soil by turning in well-rotted manure.

Here we are and it is only 11 days to Christmas!Last week saw the Cameron Christmas party where the team enojoyed a short 'cruise' from the Embankment to Greenwich followed by all the festive fare they could manage at the 'Gipsy Moth'. Needless to say, further hostelries were visited possibly as a pre-Olympic inspection, given that the Olympic equestrian competition will be held next year on the lawns behind the Greenwich National Maritime Museum.
We are still delivering, installing and decorating our Super Grade Nordmann Christmas trees which through their excellent needle retention means less clearing up on the 12th day of Christmas. This can only be a good thing!
Though we in the south east have so far been fortunate as far as any really cold weather is concerned, it is always advisable to be prepared should Jack Frost descend on us followed by any amount of snow. Tree ferns and banana plants should be covered with horticultural fleece and desiduous trees and shrubs can be pruned. Wisteria can be pruned down to 2/3 buds. Hairy bitter cress (pictured) which oddly enough really pushes on at this time of year should be well weeded out. Those fine Italian made terracotta planters should be covered with bubble wrap which both protects the planter from cracking and gives some residual warmth to the roots. UK manufactured terracotta planters seem to be more hardy and should be able to stand much lower temperatures.
If you do find some free time amidst the Christmas shopping, parcel wrapping, turkey sourcing, seating planning and childrens' carol singing, it might be an idea to give some TLC to your garden implements. Check for sharpness on your pruners, clippers and shears. Clean off any grime and apply oil where required. Remove any flaking paint from wooden planters and list any repairs required.
Finally we would like to wish our readers and clients a very Merry Christmas and Happy 2012!
May your gardens flourish, your flowers bloom, your buxus fight blight (!) and you derive maximum pleasure from all that nature can provide, with a little help from Cameron Gardens of course!

This represents a 3 week hard/soft landscaping project where we have installed new sawn York stone paving an irrigation and lighting system and a new 'Fire Pit', though given the current climate, it may not be used for a good few weeks yet!
We have also planted Hornbeams imported from Holland in addition to Yew and Buxus hedging.
Location: Elgin Crescent W11
Status: Nearing Completion
A 4 week hard/soft landscaping project where we have planted various perennials, Betula and Bay Laurel trees. We have also installed a lighting and irrigation system.
Location: Gloucestershire
Status: Ongoing
We are now well into this 3 year project. Completed works include the rejuvenation of the walled kitchen garden, the planting of large topiary and specimen trees to the front approach, reconstructing the courtyard including fruit trees, a bespoke slate water feature and Breedon gravel. To the front of the main house we have also completed a reclaimed York stone terrace interspersed with thyme planting featuring sandstone steps.
Yet to complete are the resculpturing of the main lawn and Ha-Ha, the swimming pool area and the replanting of various other areas.
