The vision for this beautiful garden in the heart of the bucolic Devon countryside was to create joyful areas for family and friends to spend time in, spaces which inspire and encourage fun, exploration and interaction with the natural world. A garden which brings happiness and pleasure all year round.
At the front of the house, abundant planting spills through the listed railings which link the house to the front paddock which are home to sheep, ducks, horses and chickens. The planting teems with honey bees and butterflies in the summer months. The car parking area is screened by pleached hornbeams.
The garden to the rear of the property – formerly a paddock – is striking in its beauty and interest. Two fabulous herbaceous borders have abundant multi-level year-round planting which flows like a river around the garden. A smaller woodland border overflows with grasses, wild flowers and has a camomile mound. Paths run through the borders so visitors can meander along, totally immersed in the stunning vegetation and gorgeous fragrance. It is a children’s paradise too with hideouts, zip wires and tree houses. An impressive kitchen garden yields a multitude of fruit and veg for the kitchen.
