This lovely Bath stone house offered an excellent opportunity to create a new & engaging residential garden, whilst expanding & enhancing on existing elements of the much loved family garden.
Planning the garden
With an existing dominant driveway that divided much of landscape, we looked to address the circulation of the garden by moving the garage & parking area closer to the entrance which significantly opened up the green-space and created a sense of arrival to the front of house.
The River Walk
The area to the south of the residence offered a great opportunity for a paved terrace area overlooking the open lawn for croquet and games. This was linked to the new pool terrace through a ‘River Walk’ beneath a glade of multi-stem trees and seasonal perennial planting.
New entertaining terrace
A new entertaining terrace and pool will provide the family with a sense of enclosure, privacy and protection and create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Central to this area, the pool will from a focal point providing a safe swimming area in close view from the kitchen. The remodelled external dining area close to the house allows residents to spill out of the kitchen and observatory, whilst the introduction of a pool house and secondary entertaining terrace located to the existing garage offers views out across the valley.
