The Salt House Hotel, Soho
With a burgeoning collection of boutique hotels along the East Coast of America, The Salt Hotel is landing in lively Soho in the heart of the West End. The ethos of the hotel group is very much about the personal touch, building a sense of community, and creating a ‘home’ for guests, underpinned by effortless luxury. The design of the interiors will lead the style for the exterior creating a strong and fluid unity between inside and out. Cameron Gardens aims to create stunning green areas which are ideal for both entertaining and downtime and always enhance the visitor experience.
The ground floor restaurant will be reminiscent of La dolce vita, recreating the traditional Italian trattoria with uniquely designed pots and planting, working with a palette of terracotta tones and coral hues. Stunning sculptural topiary shapes, as well as combinations of scented planting, will fill the room and imbue an air of conviviality. The perimeter troughs will be filled with dynamic planting to afford privacy and combinations of herbs and citrus trees will remind of fragrant Mediterranean evenings. Twinkling lanterns will bring the terrace alive by night.
In a similar style to the restaurant, the internal planting of the hotel will work with rich tones and vibrant textual greens – this will complement the interior colours and fabrics. Small pots and plants will be positioned at different levels to create points of interest on different features such as on console tables or the bar gantry.
Visitors heading up to the cool cocktail bar on the roof terrace will be in for a lovely surprise. This magical terrace with the stunning backdrop of London’s skyline will be vibrant, exclusive and glamorous. The planting will mirror the upbeat vibe of the place with seasonal displays, sculptural forms of planting dotted about and playful pot combinations of rich dusty pinks. Several awnings will make sure the weather doesn’t put paid to the action.
