Family garden with tiered planting beds which link the basement and upper level
With a basement level extension, the brief for this garden was to maintain as much useable lawn area as possible to provide not only space for children to play but also so that a green ‘vista’ can be appreciated from within the house. Vertical planting along the boundaries provides a rich, green environment without encroaching on space and affords the property privacy too.
In order to soften the transition from the basement level to the upper grass level, tiered planting beds of fragrant lavender have been installed with steps to the side linking the two areas in a soft, pale stone.
